Itinerary

DAY 1 – UYUNI – SALAR – INCAHUASI ISLAND – SAN JUAN

Departure at 10.30 am from your hotel or our office
The tour begins with a visit to the train graveyard in Colchani, where you can see salt crafts, before entering the Uyuni Salt Flats. Within the salt flat, we will visit the salt mounds, the ‘Eyes of the Salt Flat’, the Dakar Rally Monument, and the Salt Hotel (museum). We will head to Incahuasi Island, where you will see giant cacti and limestone formations. Following a path, we will climb to the highest point of the island, from where there is a spectacular panoramic view of the salt flat. We’ll have a fun photo session with some great perspectives, before waiting for sunset on the salt flat. Finally, we’ll head to the town of San Juan to rest.

DAY 2 – SAN JUAN – OLLAGUE VOLCANO – ALTIPLANO LAGOONS – SILOLI DESERT – STONE TREE – LAGUNA COLORADA

The tour begins at 7.30 am. We will pass by the viewpoint of the Ollague Volcano, an active volcano standing at 5,865 metres above sea level. We will visit the Cañapa, Hedionda, Honda and Chiarcota lagoons, which are used by flamingos as feeding and resting spots during their migratory movements. We will pass through the Siloli Desert, home to the Stone Tree, whose shape and form are the result of wind erosion over time. Finally, we will see Laguna Colorada, so named for the reddish colour of its waters, which serves as the gateway to the Eduardo Abaroa Reserve. All visitors must register at the checkpoint. Overnight stay in Huayllajara.

DAY 3 – GEYSERS – HOT SPRINGS – GREEN LAGOON – BORDER – VALLEY OF ROCKS – SAN CRISTOBAL – UYUNI

The tour starts at 05:00. Please ensure you are warmly dressed. We will begin with a visit to the Geysers (4,850 metres above sea level), where you can observe volcanic activity, fumaroles emitting toxic gas and boiling lava with a strong smell of sulphur. then we will enjoy a natural hot bath in the hot springs (280°C to 300°C), the Dalí Desert where you can see rock formations, and we will continue by visiting Laguna Blanca and Laguna Verde, located at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano (5,930 metres above sea level). if you wish to end the tour in San Pedro (Chile), we will head to the Bolivia-Chile border at Hito Cajones (optional transfer to San Pedro de Atacama at 09:30 am). On the return journey to Uyuni, we will visit the Valle de Rocas, where there are enormous, gigantic blocks of reddish rock, some piled one on top of the other, smoothed by nature and wind erosion; finally, we will pass through the town of San Cristóbal. The approximate time of arrival in Uyuni is 5.30 pm.
